Use Case – How a Cancer Research event used Live Beacon

Live Beacon was proud and excited to have been Cancer Research’s technology partner for their glamorous, star-studded Emeralds & Ivy 10th Anniversary Ball at London’s Embankment Gardens in December 2015. This is how the iBeacon platform was used:

Vertical: Event

Client: Cancer Research UK

Objective: Provide guests with an innovative way to interact with the event

Summary:

Cancer Research asked Live Beacon for an innovative ibeacon application for their glamorous, star-studded Emeralds & Ivy 10th Anniversary Ball at London’s Embankment Gardens.

Compères Rachel Riley and Ronan Keating welcomed guests including Rod Stewart & Penny Lancaster, Nadine Coyle, Vanessa Feltz and Anastacia. Live Beacon’s cutting edge iBeacon technology was utilised throughout the evening to provide guests with a series of clues to the location of a ‘secret bar’ hidden in the party venue. During the evening guests were periodically asked to check their mobile phones for clues that appeared on their screens. Guests had to participate in order to locate the ‘secret bar’. There was no alternative means of finding the clues.

Cancer Research’s Eve Mitchell said: “The Live Beacon app was great! The guests really enjoyed and engaged with it. We raised an incredible £1,009,539 on the night – a record breaking feat for our team and charity and it was fantastic to have Live Beacon as part of this.”

Results: The 1000 guests were asked to download the Live Beacon and almost all of the guests did.

Country: UK

Technology: iBeacon
